Nine dead in Bhutan accident

Eight, including three children under 14 years, were killed on the spot while one died on the way to Thimphu hospital.
As of 12:30 pm 25 passengers including the driver were evacuated to Thimphu hospital and four are believed to be in critical condition.
The 22-seater Pelyab bus was reported to be carrying 35 passengers including the driver and his assistant. The cause of the accident is being investigated. The bus is reported to have rolled backwards on a climb before plunging 519 feet below the road at around 9:30 this morning.


All relatives of the passengers are requested to report to the old Thimphu hospital area to help identify the deceased.
